Course Profile:

This course, run in partnership with Screen Skillnet, will run over two consecutive days; Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th April.

Course Registration each day 8.30am

(Note: Antigen testing @ 8.30am, prior to commencement of each training day)

Course Times                 Day 1:  8.45am – 5pm

 

Day 2:  8.45am – 4.15pm

 

The aim of the course is to provide participants with information and knowledge regarding general health and safety, and to alert them to their responsibilities and duties as agents of employers according to the Health and Safety Act 2005, and subsequent legislation, as they relate to the film and television industry.

  • Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulation 2007
  • Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013
  • Duties of employees & Duties of employers
  • Hierarchy of control, Accountability & Responsibility
  • Importance of safety statements,
  • Understanding hazards and risks, what is a risk assessment?
  • Legal Competency
  • The Role of the HSA
  • Reporting of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences to the HSA
  • Workplace Bullying & Stress

 

Participant Profile:

This 2 Day Health & Safety Awareness course is aimed at senior crew working in the Film and TV Drama Sector who have responsibility around health and safety on productions including Production Managers, Coordinators, Line Producers, Location Managers,  and Heads of Departments.

Crew who are not at this level but would like to gain more knowledge of Health and Safety procedures can learn more with Screen Ireland’s free online Safe Pass course, link to information HERE.

The course is limited to 10 participants

Tutor Profile:

Karen is a Health & Safety professional with over 15 years’ experience across industries such as Construction, Food Services, Health Care, Manufacturing, Warehousing & Distribution and Film & TV. Working out of the Dublin office, Karen has been with CMSE for 6 years providing both consultancy and training services to CMSE clients.

Karen has particular experience and expertise in the film and TV sector going back 13 years. Karen has worked on productions including ‘Leap Year’, ‘Charlie’, ‘Love Hate’, ‘Penny Dreadful’, ‘Ripper Street’, ‘Moonfleet’, ‘Secret Scripture’, ‘Moone Boy’ and ‘Sing Street’.

Karen was engaged on the EU-OSH project for the development of the OiRa Tool for the Audio Visual Sector and by Screen Skills Ireland for the development of the  Irish Film & Television Health & Safety Guide and Screen Pass Training Programme.
